Finally, Metallica came to Romania again... after 9 years.
We went to Bucharest (not an easy travel), it rained all night long, we didn't have a place to sleep over, but IT WAS F#@%ING GREAT!!!
James, Kirk, Robert & Lars played like there was no tomorrow, giving all their best on stage. It was the best show I've ever seen so far. Pyro and light effects made the whole atmosphere to be listening the old school Metallica tracks. They played a lot of stuff from back in the days - it was amazing how the 15 thousand people (including us) were all singing together, knowing all the lyrics & riffs by heart.
Way to go METALLICA! You guys were AWESOME! Come again soon!

More pictures from Orlando, Florida
As I (briefly) mentioned, a colleague and I attended the yearly Microsoft conference "TechEd North America".
So, besides the city of Santa Barbara and downtown New York, I also went to Orlando, Florida, for a week. That's the 3rd major USA place I've been to within 2 months...
Indeed, L.A.X. and the Atlanta Airport don't count
I guess Florida is great if you're going on a vacation... It' really hot and humid. The scenery is pretty much what you would expect for this climate, but exotic tropical plants are really confortable there.
This is the Orange County Convention Center - where the conference was hosted. A pretty impressive building...
Interesting conference buses...
Here's a nice looking pick-up parked outside a small shopping center...
One night we went to the Universal Studios amusement park... Wish we could have went to Sea World too, but hey - it was better than nothing, right?
In the airport I found a Harley Davidson gift shop. Looks like they have a legendary bike factory in Orlando - that's another miss...
And a couple of shots from the plane, on the way home (somewhere over Germany)...
[Note] this got archived as an entry for June 2008, to keep the chronology of events... because I didn't have the time to post it at the right time (back in 2008)...

Orlando, FL, USA
I visited Orlando in June for the 2008 edition of the yearly Microsoft conference TechEd North America.
Since I had already been to Santa Barbara and made a very short visit in New York, I already had an idea of what Florida would look like. Amaizing though - how you can discover so many new things in the same contry - that's the USA...
First of all, there was the heat - and the humidity... I could hardly keep the cigarette lit even during the night... Now that's humidity for you!
...to be continued ...

New York, New York...
After departing from Santa Barbara back in May 2008, I had to wait 12 hours in NY, on the JFK airport for a connection.
So, I thought it'd be a good idea to go downtown and walk around for a while, to avoid getting like Tom Hanks in "The Terminal" (which BTW was also about a JFK terminal...)
You may want to listen to this one while looking at these photos...
New York, New York
Here we go... some shots of downtown, just a block away from Broadway Blvd... (the pictures are taken with my cell phone, and, as you can see, it was pretty foggy that day...).
I got off the subway at Penn Station and walked on 8th Ave all the way to the Trump Towers (to the Central Park entrance). It was a long walk... Stopped a bit near Trump Towers, smoked a fewa cigarrettes and went back to the subway. I wanted to go on Broadway, but I thought I wouldn't have enough time (I was tired and the walk took me a while, plus I also kept stopping here and there and taking a shot or two).
And here are a few shots from the NY subway and the JFK terminal...

Santa Barbara - more pictures
An update with a few more photos from Santa Barbara.
(I posted this as an entry from May 2008 to keep chronology of events...initially I didn't get the time to post these images, but... "better late than never")
And a few photos with a more "retro" feel...
